Paulo Fonseca has been linked with the AC Milan job in the last few days, given that his contract with Lille will expire in the summer. When asked about the matter himself, the manager was reluctant to provide a clear answer.

The Rossoneri are currently evaluating several candidates for the post-Stefano Pioli era and as confirmed by Gianluca Di Marzio, Fonseca is on their shortlist. Julen Lopetegui seems to be in pole position for now but the final decision is yet to be made, with the fans expressing their discontent with the Spaniard.

Ahead of the game against Metz, which Lille won 2-1 earlier today, Fonseca spoke at his usual press conference and was asked about the future. He refused to give a clear answer, stating that he’s fully focused on the remainder of the season.

“I’m totally focused on the last four matches. The team’s future is certainly more important than mine. I don’t know what I’ll do next year, I haven’t decided yet,” he said as cited by Radio Rossonera.

It remains to be seen if Milan will accelerate their interest in the manager, as a few other candidates appear to be ahead for now. Thiago Motta remains the dream but Juventus are ahead in the race, at least for now.
