Sofyan Amrabat will return to Fiorentina after a tough year on loan with Manchester United and is keen to find a new adventure in the summer.

The 27-year-old midfielder emerged on the world stage at the Qatar World Cup, playing a leading role in Morocco’s historic run to the semi-final. After heavy links to Barcelona that January, he ultimately left the Viola for the Premier League on loan last summer.

Amrabat has not impressed with Manchester United, struggling for consistent minutes and not doing well either as a left back or defensive midfielder. His €25m total buy option is not expected to be activated, leaving him to return to Fiorentina in the summer.

Amrabat situation

Transfer market expert Matteo Moretto tried to provide an update on the future of Amrabat after his Manchester United spell via Caught Offside.

The Moroccan midfielder will return to Florence after his season with the Red Devils but isn’t expected to stay long, keen for a new adventure in the summer. Much depends on the offers that arrive, however.
