One of St. Louis’ top prospects is set to join the Ontario Hockey League.

IK Oskarshamn of the Swedish Hockey League has confirmed that Dalibor Dvorsky has left the club to head to North America, with Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek reporting that the 18-year-old center is off to play with the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves.

The Wolves drafted Dvorsky with the 68th pick in the CHL Import Draft in 2022, one year after the Chicago Steel snagged his USHL rights.

Selected 10th overall by the Blues in June, Dvorsky struggled in his first season of SHL hockey. In 10 games, Dvorsky had zero points, with his ice timing falling to 1:35 and 0:44 over the past two games. Known for his good shot release, Dvorsky recorded just 11 shots, and none in his last three contests. He last played on Saturday in a 4-1 loss to Malmo.

This wasn’t his first year of pro hockey, with Dvorsky scoring six goals and 14 points in 38 games with AIK in the second-division Allsvenskan last year. He also suited up for 17 games the year before, and spent most of 2020-21 playing against men in his native Slovakia.

Against his own age group, Dvorsky has been a shining light. He had 13 points in seven games at the 2023 U-18 World Championship, earning him some MVP consideration. He also has represented Slovakia at two world juniors, and will likely be the driving force behind the team again this winter.

The Wolves are one of the top teams in the OHL, with many expecting them to go far. The team is led by top forwards David Goyette and Quentin Musty, as well as other notable forwards, including Kieron Walton, Evan Konyev and Kocha Delic. Dvorsky’s addition will give the team another high-profile scoring punch, with the potential for the Slovakian center to head to the AHL for 2024-25.
