The 2024 NFL Draft kicks off tonight and one of the wildcards in this draft is the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts Currently have the 15th pick in the 1st round. As we have moved closer to the draft we have a better idea of what positions each team is likely to select. The Colts, however, could go in a couple of different directions, and sportsbooks released odds on which position they will draft.

1. Cornerback +120

2. Wide Receiver +180

3. Tight End +350

4. Defensive Linemen or EDGE +600

Indianapolis Colts to Select Cornerback First at +120

The position with the most likely odds to be selected first by the Indianapolis Colts is a cornerback at +120.  A near 50/50 probability, sportsbooks point to a corner to be the most likely outcome when the Colts select at 15. There is no secret that cornerback is a position of need for the Colts. Needing to solidify a player opposite of Kenny Moore II is something the Colts never truly addressed this offseason. At 15 the Colts are slated in a great position to draft a top corner prospect.

Indianapolis Colts to Select Wide Receiver First at +180

Surrounding your young quarterback with as many playmakers as possible is something that has become a trend in recent years in the NFL. Especially when there is a pairing of two young emerging talents on cheaper contracts. After injuries cut a promising season short for Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson, the Colts will be excited to build up the young offense in year two. We’ve seen this with the Cincinnati Bengals pairing Joe Burrow with JaMarr Chase, and with the Houston Texans pairing CJ Stroud with Tank Dell.

The Colts’ current receiver room is Michael Pittman, Josh Downs, and Alec Pierce. This is still a decent young group and adding a receiver might not seem like a pressing need. However, with the loaded wide receiver draft class at hand, taking a receiver could completely transform this offense.

Indianapolis Colts to Select Tight End First at +350

The last potion with feasible odds that the Colts could select is a tight end at +350. Tight end is indeed a position of need, their current room is currently Kylen Granson, Jelani Woods, and Mo Alie-Cox. However, this seems unlikely as Brock Bowers out of Georgia is the only first-round talent at the position, and he will likely be gone before the Colts make their selection.

Pick: Indianapolis Colts to select a wide receiver first at +180

The Cinderella story would be the Colts making a splash and trading up to draft Marvin Harrison Jr, son of Colts legend Marvin Harrison Sr . While I do not expect that to happen, surrounding Anthony Richardson with more talent while he is on his rookie deal would be a great move for the Colts, and I believe their offensive-minded staff will do so.
