Report: Giants trying to trade up in draft for one QB
New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen. Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants are reportedly trying to find a way to land one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL Draft.

According to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, the Giants want to draft Drake Maye. The Giants, who have the No. 6 pick, have been exploring potential deals to acquire the No. 3 overall pick from the New England Patriots, but a trade is viewed as a “long shot.”

The Patriots have made it known that they are willing to trade back from No. 3. They also badly need a quarterback and are said to be high on Maye. Though, there is one scenario where New England could make two trades during the first round on Thursday night and come away with a top quarterback plus additional draft capital.

This is not the first report we have heard about the Giants wanting Maye. The issue is that they have the No. 6 overall pick, and Maye is not expected to fall that far barring something unforeseen.

It is hardly a surprise that the Giants want a quarterback. They still owe Daniel Jones $35.5 million in guaranteed money for next season, but there have been several signs that New York is not committed to the former Duke star. Even Giants owner John Mara said he would support his decision-makers taking a quarterback at No. 6 or moving up even higher.
