Knicks Had Historic Offensive Performance vs. Raptors
Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Knicks have built their reputation during the 2023-24 NBA regular season on the defensive end of the court. They are one of the toughest teams to score against in the league, making it difficult for their opponent on a nightly basis.

The latest team to find that out the hard way was the Toronto Raptors. New York went North of the Border to play against their Atlantic Division rivals and held them to only 101 points in a blowout victory. But, it wasn’t their defense that everyone has been talking about the following day.

Instead, it was their offensive explosion. The Knicks scored 145 points in the game for their best offensive performance of the season. It was the most points the Knicks have scored in regulation in over 40 years, as the undermanned Raptors had zero answers defensively.

It was a total team effort as New York shot 58.5 percent overall and 50 percent from 3-point range. Donte DiVincenzo, who had all 12 of his shot attempts be 3-pointers, and end-of-bench reserve DaQuan Jeffries and Jericho Sims, were the only three players to not shoot at least 58 percent in the game.

Just how impressive of a shooting night did the Knicks have? As shared by DJAceNBAon X, it was one of the most dominant offensive performances in the history of the NBA. New York had an offensive rating of 156.7, which was the highest by a team this season.

That is the highest mark in the NBA since the Memphis Grizzlies against the Oklahoma City Thunder on December 2nd, 2021. Many fans will remember that game because it was the most lopsided game in league history with Memphis winning by 73, 152-79.

Since offensive ratings have been tracked dating back to the 1977-78 season, the Knicks’ 156.7 is the third highest ever recorded in the NBA. It was an onslaught that never slowed down, as everyone was on fire wearing orange and blue on Wednesday night.

While the Knicks aren’t going to score 145 points every game, it just shows how dangerous they are. They are capable of beating opponents in several different ways, which makes them a team no one wants to see once the NBA playoffs roll around.
