Player Profile: Walker Jenkins

Walker Jenkins was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, on February 19, 2005. He played high school baseball at South Brunswick High School in Southport, NC. He was the top-ranked outfielder and the top-ranked overall player in North Carolina. At South Brunswick, he hit .487 with a .598 OBP; he had 74 hits, 20 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs, 53 RBI, 78 runs scored, 37 stolen bases, and 35 walks. Jenkins was ranked the top outfielder in the country and the top overall player. He committed to play college baseball at the University of North Carolina.

Ford was the top-ranked high school prospect and the fourth overall prospect entering the 2023 draft and would be selected fifth overall by the Minnesota Twins forgoing attending North Carolina in the fall.

Jenkins played for the Twins rookie ball team as well as Single-A Fort Myers, and in 26 games, he slashed .362/.417/.571 with a .989 OPS; he had five doubles, four triples, three home runs, 22 RBI, 16 runs scored, six stolen bases, and nine walks.

ITD ranks Jenkins as the 31st overall prospect and the Twins top ranked prospect. He will likely start the season at High-A Cedar Rapids.
