How things unfolded with adding Quinshon Judkins shows why Ohio State may win a national championship

A couple of surprising things happened for Ohio State’s offensive backfield this offseason that are only going to make them better.

TreVeyon Henderson opted to return to school and the Buckeyes went out and got the top transfer running back Quinshon Judkins.

How that all came about may be why Ohio State captured a national championship this coming season.

Ryan Day recently sat down with Josh Pate on Late Kick Live to discuss the program and everything around it.

“When Quinshon Judkins reached out to us and said that he was interested in coming to Ohio State, the first thing I did was call TreVeyon Henderson. I said ‘Trey, we have an opportunity to bring in Quinshon Judkins’,” explained Day.

Henderson was all for it and was open to Judkins coming in and joining the running back room with him. Obviously, Henderson knew that he would lose some touches but the team would benefit from two elite running backs.

Judkins’ answer to Henderson not going pro and coming back to Ohio State was once again an example of a team-first mindset.

“I love it. We’ll push each other, we’ll be better. We are a 1-2 punch,” Henderson said according to Day.

At Ole Miss, Judkins ran for 2,725 yards and 31 touchdowns over the last two seasons. As a freshman, Judkins had 1,567 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. Henderson has run for 2,745 yards in three seasons. His best season came in his freshman season as well with 1,248 yards.

Ohio State is going to have maybe the best running back room in the country in 2024 and if they can win it all, it will have a big factor in them doing that.
