On the Road Again
What's going on everybody? I hope you guys got off to a good start of the week. My Monday has been pretty crazy and I've got all kinds of stuff to talk about! I'll rewind for a minute and fill you guys in about the weekend first.
At our last home game of the season last Saturday, we were able to beat Philly 13-9, which was a HUGE win for our team. We had a very average first half, and were able to pick it up in the second half and grab a W. Jarboe did his thing in goal man, and it was incredible to watch. Watching a goalie get hot is definitely one of the best things to watch in our sport (as long as he's on your team, had a bad experience with a goalie getting hot on the other team in the National Championship game my Sophomore year...). Mickey was seeing everything, and when he's playing like that, it gives the rest of our team so much confidence. Everyone on our team flew around in the second half, and while we made a few mistakes, we definitely played our hardest half of the year. We've got an even bigger game against San Fran this weekend, and I can't wait.
Sunday, Greg Bice, Anthony Kelly, Brett Hughes and I hopped on a plane back east to head to Syracuse to run the first ever Nike Elite Lacrosse Camp on Monday. Unfortunately, we had to circle in the air for 2 hours, then ran out of gas and had to stop in Harrisburg before landing for our connection in Philly. I was tempted to be a little annoyed by the stop, but I guess it's better we stopped to get gas, the alternative definitely wouldn't have been that sweet. After a 10 hour trip (that should have been 5 hour trip), we got to Syracuse, had a meeting to prepare for the camp, got some rest, and knocked the camp out of the park today at Syracuse. The kids worked extremely hard, coaching staff was energetic, and it was definitely the best camp I've had the opportunity to be a part of. Having the opportunity to be trained by some of the top trainers around (Doug and Chris Gizzi (Zoneready.net), Jay Dyer(insidelacrosse.com)) and be coached by some of the top players around (Stephen Brooks, Brett Hughes, Anthony Kelly, Greg Bice, etc) is something I was never exposed to as a player. What an incredible opportunity for these players. While there were ton's of talented dudes there, the kid I think has got crazy potential is a kid named Austin Wright. Keep your eyes out for him.
Few quick thoughts from the past few days...
Anyone watch the USA basketball team play Canada on Friday? I know it was a few days ago, and they've played another game since then, but those cats are looking kinda smooth, and I think we're back....
If you get a chance, pick up the last ESPN the Magazine, there were two articles in there I liked. The article on Freddy Adu was a good one and really gives insight to who he really is (kids been in the spotlight since he was 12). There's another great article on Ryan Sheckler, which gives insight into this cats crazy life (been in the spotlight since he was 6). I enjoyed both articles, definitely helped pass some time on the plane. Grab Time as well and check out the top 100 olympians that will make an impact on August 8th.
Anyone see Stepbrothers yet? I'm hoping to catch that sometime in the next few days. I'll be on the road until I head back to San Fran for my game on Saturday afternoon. Tomorrow we're at Hofstra for the NELC, then UVA on Thursday, Hopkins Friday, and then right to the airport to head to San Fran.
We're in a pretty ridiculous bus right now driving to Hofstra with reclining chairs, tv's and wireless internet, so I'm not complaining!
Anyway, have a great night and I'll get at you in a day or so!

-
Yea I did it was good, funny too.

I did see that USA basketball game, and while Canada isn't an elite team, we did beat them by 55 points. Other teams are going to have a tough time beating them if they play that well. Did you see that sick play with Jason Kidd, Melo, and Chris Bosh? That's US basketball at its best
-
Yeah, the Kidd, Melo to Bosh play was hot for sure...Can't wait for the first game on Sunday.

yo wuts up kyle. hey man nice win saturday over the barrage. that was a pretty fun day, it was my birthday and my favorite team mll team won!!
but anyway, i went ice skating on sunday nd hurt my left ankle so i want be doing any runnin for a while. do you have any tips or so type of training or stick practice i could do while recovering? i want to stay in top shape for when i go back to summer league in a couple weeks. thanks! -
There ya go! Happy Belated birthday man! Sorry I missed it! I was fired up about the big win over the Philly a few weeks back, we definitely needed it.
honestly man, I'd say just play as much wall ball as you possibly can. You've got to keep your stick skills tight man. It's going to be pretty hard to run with a bad ankle man. Get in the pool and try and swim a fair amount to keep your wind up. Let me know how it goes buddy. -
kyle...
This is the only place I could find to do it, but I wanted to thank you for ripping on me at the NELC session at Homewood. I was the tall goalie from Penn Charter, and if you could pass the thanks along to Brooks as well I'd appreciate it. Every time someone like you takes the time to shoot on me it makes me a better player so I also wanted to say thanks for having me at the camp in general.

DC,
No problem at all man, I'm glad you had a blast. You're a great goalie and you will continue to improve from here. Stay in touch, and let me know if there's anything I can ever help you out with!
