Last Leg...Utah/Vegas
What's good?
So, the trip is definitely starting to come to an end, which I'm both happy and sad about. It's been a lot of fun, but I think I'm ready to not be in a car anymore for 7 hours a day.
The last day in Utah (Tuesday night), we went to the Jazz game and they were laying the Warriors. I got to see Baron Davis play live which was incredible. Clearly he's incredible as a player, but what impressed me most about him is his leadership, and strength going to the basket. When that cat went to the hoop, nobody was stopping him, and he's got great body control once he leaves his feet. Watching Baron and Williams from the Jazz go at each other was a fun battle to watch. Two of the most talented guards in the league going shot for shot, it was definitely the highlight of the game for me. I hadn't been to an NBA game in a minute, so I had forgotten how much these cats don't miss once they get in a rhythm. I think brett and I counted 9 possessions back and forth of just jumper after jumper for both teams, it was out of control.
Wednesday morning we left Utah and headed for Vegas, which was such a nice drive. It was only about 4 compared to the 7 plus we've been doing. Once we got there, we checked into the hotel, got a little work out in and kicked if for the rest of the day, nothing to crazy. Our last event of the trip was on Thursday as we had a clinic for about 125 kids at a local high school in Vegas. We worked with a lacrosse retailer in Vegas called Sling It, and Neil Butterfield (Sling It), did a great job of putting the clinic together.
After the clinic, we had a few days to play catch up. Catch u on sleep, working out, e-mails, and just trying to relax for a little bit. The casino we stayed at had some ridiculous strawberry short cake, and I know for a fact I had at least 5 pieces while I was there.
Saturday morning, it was off to sunny California! Unfortunately, it was right to the sunny California airport to fly back to Texas (where I am now) for a Nike SPARQ commercial shoot which will air March 12th(my birthday!) during American Idol for the first time. I got a lot of great behind the scene's footage, but I'm not allowed to put it up until after the commercial airs, but definitely be on the look out for that. One of my buddies and fellow Nike Lacrosse athlete Ryan Powell was here for the shoot as well, so it was nice to catch up with him. Anyway, I'll tell ya more about the NIke shoot in my next blog.
Tomorrow, it's back to California to go house hunting and get my life together. I'm really excited to get settled in California and get back to working out hard for the next two months in preparation for pre-season. It's going to be a HUGE season with the L.A. Riptide, and I want to make sure I'm as prepared as I can be.
I'm off to work out, and then walk around Austin for a bit, but I'll catch up with you all soon.
