I Am Legend...
Yup, I saw it! Finally, after all the build up, last weekend I got to go check out Will Smith's I Am Legend, and I've got some thoughts.
For starters, I'm a HUGE Will Smith fan, I think the guy is crazy talented, so I'll check out anything he's in. I even saw Wild Wild West a few times. With that being said, I had a few issues with this particular movie.
One, I feel like they assumed EVERYONE going to see this movie had read the book before attending. Unfortunately with me, that wasn't the case. I went into the movie completely blind, knowing absolutely nothing at all about the story line of the movie, other then the fact that this cat was in NYC all by himself (we all saw that in the previews). I didn't know why, or how he ended up that way either. They took little time really showing what happened. He had flash backs through out the movie (very short, only a minute or two long at most each time), and they had little clues through out the movie which were supposed to give a heads up (magazine on the fridge cover with his face on it). I wanted a lot more background on his life, his family, his profession, all that good stuff. I needed the whole thign to be developed a whole lot more for a number of reasons. The only thing we see really developed was his relationship with his dog, and his awkward relationship with all of the manikin's around the city. I guess we're your alone somewhere though, you make friends where you can, even if they don't talk to you or move..or do anything for that matter.
Wtih all that being said, the action in the movie was off the chains! Will definitely did his thing.
I definitely will see it again when it comes out on DVD, and I with out a doubt enjoyed myself at the theatre, I just expected so much more. I expected more of a story line, more of a plot. I love movies that force you to care about what's going on, and this one didn't do it for me. For what it's worth though, I thought Will Smith did his thing as usual. He had commical moments, emotional moments, serious moments...cats one of the best in the game.
On a different note, the kids from Lacrosse For LIFE sent me a nice package yesterday! They hooked me up with some Christmas Cd's, and some had made cards! I as diggin the cards, I got them displayed on the counter at my parents house. I can't wait to get out west and get to spend time with them a bit more consistently.
I've got one of my Run N' Gun Lacrosse camps in Michigan this weekend, then off to Atlanta to meet my family at my sister Kia's house for Christmas! It should be a great weekend!
I hope you guy's have had an awesome week, and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Remember, any lacrosse related questions, just feel free to post them up, and I'll be sure to reply!
Have a great rest of the week.
