Hawaii!
Well, as I mentioned in my last blog, I'm back from Hawaii! It was definitely a fun trip, filled with all kinds of great stories to tell.
For starters, when we arrived Thursday night, your boy got sick! I was sick from Thursday-Sunday! I couldn't believe it! For the most part, I played in our games during the day, rode all over the place on my scooter and took great pictures, but when it was around 8pm, I'd lay down for a two hour a nap, and wake up at 6am the next day. Not great, I know.
Either way, we had a GREAT team put together, not only with great players, but great people. At Attack, we had both Casey and Ryan Powell (w/ their families), Colin Dolye (What up YB!!), and Matt Alrich. At Midfield, Jarret Park, Anthony Kelly, Tim Booth, Joe Walters, Stephen Brooks, Justin SMith and me. Defense, Brodie Merrill, Eric Martin, Jack Reid, and Kyle Hartzell, with Brett Queener in the goal. Playing with these types of players is always fun because not only is playing easy, but you can learn a lot from watching these guys. This was my first time playing with Colin Doyle, and his game is ridiculous. Talk about someone who just knows the game better then most. He makes a lot of pretty difficult things look extremely easy. Matt Suri from Wimmer Solutions (Seattle) did a great job getting all of these guy's together and out to Hawaii.
We beat the Crease Monkeys in the championship game on Sunday afternoon in TERRIBLE weather! Apparently (we were told by many locals) that this was the worst weekend (weather wise) in the past 6 months. It rained ALL day Sunday, but let up a little for our final game. It was a great game, with the Crease Monkey's having some of the most talented guys around on their team. Matt Striebel, John Christmas, Chazz Woodson, Mitch Belisle, Geoff Snider, Brian Kelly, and the list goes on. So, it was definitely an entertaining game for people to watch, and exciting to come out on top. May have been a bit more entertaining had the weather conditions been a little better, but, it's all good. It was the first thing I've won in quite some time, so that was definitely a good thing! Hopefully things will start turning around in the MLL as well!
I've got a few top moments for me of the trip...so I'll list them off....in no particular order
1. Eric Martin hitting one of the kids from the Japanese team and the kid rolling 10 yards out of bounds afterwards.
2. John Jiloty (Inside Lacrosse) being able to fit into a toddler Elmo costume and wearing it to the Halloween Party on Sunday night.
3. Mitch Belisle dressed as the joker, playing the part entirely too well and creeping me, along with everyone else at the party out.
4. The dude dressed as Party Boy who consistently ripped off his jacket (no shirt underneath) and his snap off pants (thong underneath) and started dancing with anyone in the vicinity. Definitely kept my distance, but it was funny nonetheless. '
5. Anthony Kelly (6ft 4in, 245 pounds) squeeze on to a small moped.
After we won I tossed all of my equipment to a few of the local kids and they were fired up! It was good to see them get so excited about it! Most guy's on the team gave away their equipment, and the local fan's were definitely very appreciative.
We rented mopeds for the entire trip and it made me want a motorcycle for the first five minutes, only to be completely terrified for my life and want nothing to do with it after a bus incident. I liked the freedom of being out in the open, and feeling the ocean breeze when we were up in the mountains for sure. But, the second a bus whipped around a corner, and started over into our lane and had me straight SHOOK! I was absolutely terrified, and was ready to swing a U boat, and take my moped right on back to the shop.
Either way, it was an amazing trip, and as I said, I've got lots of pictures and video's to post! Here's one from me and my boy Chazz Woodson at the Halloween party. Thank god you all can't see how short my shorts are.
I'll holler.
