Nica Hope
Buenas dias Yardbarkers, I hope you aren’t waking the neighbors up. (it’s a joke, hope that came across.) So K Harri was good enough to let me hop on and take over for a second to share a little something on my heart. I hope you are all enjoying his “barks” because I know I love reading them, and half the time I’m in those moments with him, it’s just good stuff to have him put the dumb and fun situations we get end up in, into words.
I have been traveling to Central America a lot lately and have found myself and a new wing of family in Nicaragua. Yup, Nicaragua… So, I wanted to steal the mic for a second and share with you a couple of people and organizations that are just flat out doing it right and if it stirs your heart hop on board, see what you can do to help, or toss a few bucks their way. It’s a great way YOU can bring more and more smiles out of the hard conditions everyone is facing.
Love Light and Melody is the reason I have had my eyes opened and heart rocked in Nicaragua. Brad Corrigan and his team are champions .. They continue to push change while inspiring not only the communities they touch, but bring an extra punch to the organizations who are already bringing the noise and love on these communities.
Deanna Ford of Nica HOPE is the newest ray of light in Nicaragua for me. She is a warrior in these communities and has put together an organization that allows girls in the community to make an honest days wage by making jewelry and having Deanna and her org sell it to not only raise money, but actually help these amazing kids get by day to day. In a community that is exploited daily where a 12 hr day might earn you $2 The FABRETTO program allows these girls to avoid the dangers of working in the dump, and also set up to graduate to own a mini beading buisness. (http://fabretto.org) check out what an amazing program she has put together and I will have Harri take a picture of the bracelet he wears from one of the girls.
Please spend some time on these websites and look at the sponsoring children page… There are so many kids who could use your help and in all honesty I probably know them. I scrolled down the page the other day and saw some of my favorite kids in the world who have sponsors already. Times are tough but there is no better way to fight through the constant talk of how bad times are than to bring some light right in the middle of darkness. It’s so simple and if you do sponsor a child or donate to the organization chances are I’ll know the young one you are forming a relationship with first hand… These are some of the most amazing people on our earth so I hope it hits you right where it hit me when I first learned La Chureca Trash Dump.
Want to say thanks for letting me bark a bit and I hope to hear from you soon. Ill hop on again soon and let you know about some of the dumb stuff Kyle does from my eyes. Thanks for the time K Harri I’ll see you when I get back from this trip brother.
Until then, give it away, it will all come back!
